Prague public transport does not completely stop at midnight. When the Metro and most daytime lines finish, special night trams and buses continue running across the city.

How Late Does Public Transport Run in Prague?
Prague public transport runs 24 hours a day, but the system changes around midnight.
- The Metro operates approximately from 5:00 a.m. until midnight. The exact time of the last train depends on the station, line and direction.
- Most daytime trams and buses also finish around midnight. Night trams and buses then continue running until regular daytime services begin again in the morning.

How Do Prague Night Trams and Buses Work?
Night service operates from around midnight until regular daytime transport begins again in the early morning.
- Night trams use line numbers 91–99 and usually run every 30 minutes. They connect the city center with many parts of Prague.
- Night buses use line numbers 901–917 and serve areas that are not covered by trams. They usually run every 30 or 60 minutes.

Do I Need a Special Night Ticket?
No. Regular Prague public transport tickets and travel passes are valid on night trams and buses.
- Check the total journey time before buying a short-term ticket. Your ticket must remain valid until you reach your destination.

⚠️ Night journeys are usually much longer than daytime trips. There are fewer night lines, and each route covers a larger part of the city. A journey can take twice as long or more, especially if you need to change lines.
Which App Should I Use for Night Transport?
PID Lítačka is the most useful app for traveling around Prague. It shows connections, stops, current transport restrictions and departure information. You can also buy and activate tickets in the app.
IDOS is a good alternative for checking timetables and connections, especially when your journey includes regional buses or trains.
Google Maps is convenient for basic directions. For important night journeys, check PID Lítačka or IDOS as well, especially when there are temporary route changes.
Practical Questions About Prague Night Transport
Can I rely on public transport after a concert or late event?
Yes. You do not need to leave an event before midnight just to catch the Metro.
However, your journey may take much longer at night. Check the route and departure time before leaving the venue because missing one connection may mean a long wait.
