If you are traveling on Prague public transport with a suitcase or another large item, you may need an additional ticket. The rules depend mainly on the size of your luggage. This guide explains what you can carry for free and when you need to pay.

When Do You Need to Pay for Luggage on Prague Public Transport?
You do not need an additional ticket for a suitcase or bag no larger than 25 × 45 × 70 cm. A standard cabin suitcase usually fits within this limit, but check the dimensions of your own bag.
If your luggage is larger, the type of passenger ticket you have determines whether you need to pay:
- A 30-minute or 90-minute ticket does not include large luggage. You must buy a luggage ticket for each large suitcase.
- A 24-hour or 72-hour Prague ticket includes one large piece of luggage.
- A long-term Prague pass also includes one large piece of luggage.

Luggage Size, Weight, and Quantity Limits
You can carry no more than three pieces of luggage with a combined weight of up to 50 kg.
A regular suitcase or bag cannot be larger than 50 × 60 × 80 cm. Items exceeding these dimensions are normally not allowed. Some special items, such as skis, musical instruments, and folded bicycles, have separate rules.
Large luggage may also be refused if the vehicle is crowded and there is not enough space to carry it safely.

How Much Does a Luggage Ticket Cost in Prague?
The price of a luggage ticket depends on how you buy it:
- 23 CZK in the PID Lítačka app
- 25 CZK for a paper ticket from a ticket machine
The luggage ticket has the same time and zone validity as your passenger ticket, up to a maximum of 180 minutes (three hours).
How to Buy and Use a Luggage Ticket
You can buy a paper luggage ticket from a ticket machine at a stop or metro station. Validate it once at the beginning of your journey. If you are also using a paper passenger ticket, validate both tickets at the same time.
⚠️ Do not validate the luggage ticket again when you transfer to another tram, bus, or metro line.
In the PID Lítačka app, activate the luggage ticket and wait until the one-minute activation period has finished before boarding. When traveling by metro, the ticket must be fully valid before you enter the paid area.

Which Items Can You Carry for Free?
You do not need an additional ticket for:
- Small suitcases or bags up to 25 × 45 × 70 cm
- Shopping bags on wheels
- Up to two pairs of skis with poles in one cover, or one snowboard
Fine for Not Having a Luggage Ticket
If your luggage requires a ticket and you do not have one, the fine is:
- 200 CZK if you pay on the spot
- 400 CZK if you pay within 15 days
- 600 CZK if you pay later

About Strollers and Prams
- Baby stroller with child inside: free of charge on all PID transport. (dpp.cz). Foldable strollers without a child are treated as luggage (you must have a land can be transported almost anywhere.
- Accessibility: many vehicles are low-floor and some stops have elevators or ramps. However, in crowded vehicles, the driver may ask you to wait if the stroller area is occupied.
Pets & Animals
- Pets in a closed carrier (with impermeable bottom) follow luggage rules: they travel free if within size limits or may require a ticket.
- Dogs without a carrier: may travel free if on a leash and muzzled, in designated areas, and with the driver’s consent.
- Be considerate of other passengers, especially in crowded vehicles.
